The Russian Railway Corp. - RZD (Gorky branch) is considering the possibility of the launch of electric trains from Moscow railway station in Nizhny Novgorod to the International Airport "Strigino".
The chief of the Gorki railway, Sergey Kozyrev said it on April 22 in the press conference after the meeting with Valery Shantsev, the governor of the Nizhniy Novgorod Region.
"Within the framework of modernisation of the Nizhny Novgorod International Airport the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region considers expedient to connect the Airport to the railway. Then the passenger will be able to check in the luggage at the railway station, to register for the flight, to get the boarding card, to take the electric train and to arrive at the plane at a convenient time for him", Sergey Kozyrev explains.
At that the chief of the Gorky Railway has found it difficult to name the amount of means required for the construction of this railway line. "For this question the working group will be created, it should count all questions of financing. The reconstruction of the Airport will take about three years. I think that by this time the electric trains will start to shuttle", - Sergey Kozyrev adds.
